Chapter Eight

Hope stood in her room and had no fucking idea what to do. Sex was simple, it was easy, and although she had only had sex with Gio was still easy, at least until right now. Before she could get up and leave whenever she wanted to. But not this time, this time she was going to be with these men for the rest of her life. She was nervous, what if she fucked this whole thing up? What if she was a terrible mate and they realized it afterwards and regretted it? Shit, what the fuck was she thinking, she was a warrior, a hard ass, not a fucking wifely mate.

There was a knock at her door and she sucked in a breath, they were early, like fucking waaayyy early. Shit, walking to the door she was ready to tell them she wasn’t ready, they would have to come back, hell, she hadn’t even shaved her legs yet, and there was no way she was mating with stubble on her legs, gross.

But when she opened the door she was surprised. Calli, Rissa, Cherri, Kiki, Syd, and Pilar were all standing there with their arms full of stuff, like girly stuff, and food and wine, what the hell.

“Come on, bitch,” Kiki snapped. “Let us in, we came prepared for this.”

Hope stepped back and looked at the women and man who entered.

“Tradition,” Syd giggled.

“Huh?” Hope said.

“One of us is going to mate, we have a girls’ session beforehand, you know, to calm the nerves and make sure you are good with everything,” Cherri said.

“Um, I am not a virgin,” Hope said.

The women stopped and looked at her and then they began laughing. “We know that,” Calli said and rolled her eyes. “This is our way of female bonding with you. I mean we played together as children, not that we remember much but we did. Now, you are one of us, and so far we have been less than welcoming, which is on us, we were bitches. No excuses. However, we aren’t going to apologize because we are bitches, so this is the next best thing. Us ignoring that we were bitches and rude and welcoming you with open arms.”

Hope frowned and looked at the women and Kiki who were all spreading out plates of food and glasses and throwing silky gowns over her couch.

“Why is Kiki here?” Hope whispered and the man heard her, turned, and put his hand on his hip like a well-practiced Diva.

“Oh snap, you did not just say that, girl. I will have you know, that not only am I a wonder at dressing even the worst dressed female in the history of females—Calli—but I am also the best girlfriend you will ever meet,” he said and snapped his fingers at her and then turned around and snapped over his shoulder. “Now get over here, bitch, and snack and drink while we talk about our men and what dipshits they are. Maybe you will learn something.
